I messaged the developer who replied pretty much immediately to me while out at a store, saying Id get a further reply shortly. Never have I experienced that type of response or personable attention outside of maybe calling my family, lol.
Upon speaking to the developer further, I am convinced that this is a person and a platform that deserves my support, as well as anyone on the fence about it.
As a music and sound professional, I can say that Audulus offers infinite freedom within set parameters. Those parameters being "how synthesis works", so your musical/programming ability (as well as your imagination) really is the only limit.
Unlike many other platforms however, I feel that Audulus can also act as an extraordinarily effective educational tool to anyone with the desire to understand the fundamentals of synthesis, as well as take that knowledge and push it further.
As someone who spent a lot of time reading about waveforms, synthesis, etc., to gain that understanding, I can tell you definitively that no amount of reading will give you more conceptual understanding or retention then hands-on experience and doing. Audulus shines because it not only gives you the aural feedback (sound), but also the tactile and visual feedback that deepens your retention as well as providing learners who may not naturally gravitate to textbook learning, a valuable alternative to gain the understanding and hands-on experience/reinforcement that allows you to then develop your own voice/sound/ideas.
And please dont take this to mean that it is not a serious studio and stage instrument. I simply emphasized the understanding aspects of it because it is rare (in my experience) to find an instrument/program/synth that is equally effective in all scenarios and for all levels of experience.
Couple that with my experience with the developer on a support and personal level, and I can not recommend Audulus highly enough.
Many thanks to the developer, and thank you for reading.
