Hardware is Dead. Long Live Audulus
The choice is simple.
You can mortgage your home and spend tens upon tens of thousands of dollars to buy and configure a Buchla, Eurorack, Moog or some other modular monstrosity that is made up of modules someone else thinks you want, will never remember a patch, is guaranteed to break down, will require you to adjust your budget to accommodate your electrical bill and rent a conex container to move ...OR... You can drop the measly 30 bucks on Audulus and have an infinite collection of perpetually expandable modular systems made of the included modules and/or those that you design, will remember anything or everything you create, cannot possibly break down, runs on batteries and will fit in your hand.
This program is not for the kids who cannot figure out how to get past the presets on their Casio toy keyboards. It is DEEP. Did I mention that you can even design your own modules ...even from a component level? Yeah. You can. In fact that is at least half the fun of Audulus, if you are willing to experiment and learn.
Go ahead and add a MIDI controller or two if you must have some knobs and sliders to twiddle. Thats easy. Audulus also plays well with other software through MIDI and Audiobus.
To top it off, I have found that the company is friendly, supportive and has demonstrated a commitment to constantly improving and expanding the program and its capabilities.
So, like I said, the choice is obvious.
